Starting February 19th, 2016 the FAA is going to require all drones between 0.55 pounds and 55 pounds be registered to operate in the US. The registration process can be done online starting December 21, 2015. For the first 30 days the registration fee will be waived, but after that it will cost $5 to register your drone for operation.
