I thought it might be interesting to put a spin on the pie theme by incorporating elements of the upcoming Halloween holiday. I decided the classic nursery rhyme ‘sing a song of sixpence,’ was rather fitting for a ‘creepy’ take on pie. I think the subtlety of it works well, with the rhyme in the background, standing in as the recipe book.
I think the feathers and blackbird hiding amongst the more traditional cooking ingredients are a bit lost in the background though. I think if they were more visible, the idea would have been conveyed a little bit better.
As for the pie, it looks tasty on it’s own accord. Amanda (the model) did a great job as the ‘stepford wife’ pie baker. She nailed the style and look that I asked of her, bringing the creepy/attractive aspect.

Time for another weird month-and-a-half contest. This time, let’s focus our attentions on one of those beloved fall foodstuffs: pie. Meat or fruit, it’s always a delicious semi-solid layer of temptation floated on or between flaky layers of dough. And your goal is to send us pictures making pie look as delicious as we all know it is. So, foodies, break out your best recipes, and bone up on how to properly shoot food (it’s trickier than many people think) and get cracking.

We’ll run this contest through the end of October, to counter for the late start. So, you’ve got plenty of time to get that shot just right. Make good use of it.
